Starting Off

Chef Desh Fernando's mission is to combine his love of extraordinary food with his passion for exploring the vast Canadian wilderness. Born in Sri Lanka, Desh's family came to Canada when he was six years old, and since childhood, he has nurtured his passions for food and nature. His father was a chef at the world-renowned 360 Restaurant at the top of the CN Tower, and he passed along his knowledge of classical culinary techniques to Desh each day. On weekends, they would venture out into the wild to fish and camp, making the most of the stunning Canadian landscapes.

Guiding Sourdough Journeys, One Baker at a Time

The founder of the Toronto Sourdough Workshop, he has taught a whole army of bakers the art of making sourdough bread through hands-on classes and events.

Since igniting his passion in childhood, Chef Desh has gone on to make waves in the Toronto culinary scene.

He also runs his own catering company where he cooks high-end meals over an open fire, using bushcraft techniques—an unforgettable experience for guests!
